Bojan and Anja

We are father and daughter, Bojan, the passionate mushroom picker and Anja, the enthusiastic one, both big food lovers, cooks by heart and supporters of local ingredients and suppliers.

Bojan lives in Bovec since he was a kid, Anja although travels quite a fair bit, always returns to Bovec, which is no wonder - breathtaking mountains, beautiful river, majestic waterfalls, peaceful lifestyle, everything is walking or cycling distance, no rush, and everyone always say hi. Paradise!

But it’s not just beautiful nature, we also have amazing food. In our Bovec kitch’n, you will taste the authentic and quality food of Bovec and Soča valley. We prepare our local treats daily and from our hearts.

Ingredients of our local treats

The quality of food begins with ingredients. Each of our local treats contains ingredients from trusted local and Slovenian suppliers carefully picked by us. The ingredients are mostly seasonal, which is why all the dishes are not always available.

We trust these local suppliers:

• Ekološka kmetija Škander: sheep cheese, sheep cottage cheese, yogurt from sheep milk

• Fishery LIBO: trout fillet, cooked trout in olive oil

• Butchery of KZ Tolmin: minced lamb meat, local beef

• Planika Dairy: cheese Tolminc with protected designation of origin, butter, sweet albumin cottage cheese, milk, yogurt, sweet cream

• Sirarna Kanal: young soft cheese

Mushrooms

Bojan started familiarising himself with mushrooms when he was a young boy already. His hobby turned into passion quite quickly and it became a big part of his life. In 2020 he was awarded with the title of determinator mentor by the Mycological Union of Slovenia, the highest ranking title. He is passing on his knowledge to Anja since her childhood, but Anja started learning about fungi more serious in the past years. At this moment she is a determinator apprentice and learning to become determinator counsellor.

Gobe na Bovškem is our website, where we posts all the mushrooms we find and determine in the municipality of Bovec. Bojan is known as the mushroom guy, the go-to guy if you have any questions about fungi.

Together we pick more than 100 different edible species for preparing the dishes in our Bovec kitch’n. Every dish is therefore unique because nature doesn’t accept orders.
